India Performs Infant Throwing Ritual (via NTDTV)
CHAN: Devotees at a Muslim shrine in western India’s Maharastra district perform a bizarre ritual: throwing babies. They toss infants from a height of 50 feet onto a cloth sheet held by both Muslim and Hindu worshippers. They believe it’s good for the newborn babies’ health.STORY: The faithful have been observing the infant-throwing ritual at the Solapur shrine for over five hundred years.
It’s practiced by parents who are blessed with a child after taking a vow at the dargah, the Muslim place of worship.
The devotees of Musti village believe that it’s good for the health of the newborn, and that the whole exercise makes the children strong.
But for onlookers, this age-old ritual may seem a bit bizarre, and, well, dangerous. The good news is, they say no newborns have ever been harmed or injured in the process.
Devotees at a shrine in Harangal village of Parbhani in western India’s Maharashtra observe a bizarre ritual of throwing their babies for good health from a considerable height onto a cloth sheet held below.
Revenge fantasy in which a woman kills her abusive husband with the help of her best friend.
Mary-Ann and Wanda were the best of friends
All through their high school days
Both members of the 4H Club
Both active in the F.F.A.
After graduation Mary-Ann went out
Lookin’ for a brand new world
Wanda looked all around this town
And all she found was Earl
Well, it wasn’t two weeks after she got married
That Wanda started gettin’ abused
She put on dark glasses, long sleeve blouses
And make-up to cover a bruise
Well, she finally got the nerve to file for divorce
She let the law take it from there
But Earl walked right through that restraining order
And put her in intensive care
Right away Mary-Ann flew in from Atlanta
On a red eye midnight flight
She held Wanda’s hand as they worked out a plan
And it didn’t take ‘em long to decide
That Earl had to die
Goodbye, Earl, those black eyed peas
They tasted alright to me Earl, you’re feelin’ weak
Why don’t you lay down and sleep, Earl
Ain’t it dark, wrapped up in that tarp, Earl
The cops came by to bring Earl in
They searched the house high and low
Then they tipped their hats and said, “Thank you, ladies
If you hear from him let us know?
Well, the weeks went by and
Spring turned to summer and summer faded into fall
And it turns out he was a missing person
Who nobody missed at all
So the girls bought some land and a roadside stand
Out on Highway 109
They sell Tennessee ham and strawberry jam
And they don’t lose any sleep at night
Cause Earl had to die
Goodbye, Earl, we need a break
Lets go out to the lake, Earl, we’ll pack a lunch
And stuff you in the trunk Earl, well, is that alright?
Good, let’s go for a ride, Earl, hey
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - Face Down (via emimusic)
Hey girl, you know, you drive me crazy
One look puts the rhythm in my hand
Still I’ll never understand why you hang around
I see what’s goin’ down
Cover up with make up in the mirror
Tell yourself it’s never gonna happen again
You cry alone and then he swears he loves you
Do you feel like a man, when you push her around?
Do you feel better now as she falls to the ground?
Well, I’ll tell you my friend, one day this world’s going to end
As your lies crumble down, a new life she has found
A pebble in the water makes a ripple effect
Every action in this world will bear a consequence
If you wade around forever you will surely drown
I see what’s going down
I see the way you go and say you’re right again
Say you’re right again, heed my lecture
Do you feel like a man, when you push her around?
Do you feel better now as she falls to the ground?
Well, I’ll tell you my friend, one day this world’s going to end
As your lies crumble down, a new life she has found
Face down in the dirt she said, ?This doesn’t hurt?
She said, ?I finally had enough?
Face down in the dirt she said, ?This doesn’t hurt?
She said, ?I finally had enough?
One day she will tell you that she has had enough
It’s coming round again
Do you feel like a man, when you push her around?
Do you feel better now as she falls to the ground?
Well, I’ll tell you my friend, one day this world’s going to end
As your lies crumble down, a new life she has found
Do you feel like a man, when you push her around?
Do you feel better now as she falls to the ground?
Well, I’ll tell you my friend, one day this world’s going to end
As your lies crumble down, a new life she has found
Face down in the dirt she says, ?This doesn’t hurt?
She says, ?I finally had enough?
